Our motivation: healthy beds
We founded our company in 1986 under the name MATRI in Perniö, Finland. Today you can also find us in many countries as FENNOBED. The heart of the apartment is an excellent bed in which you feel at home. MATRI beds are manufactured in our own factory exclusively from European, certified materials – for the benefit of nature and all our health.
The snow-white beds – the Finnish original
The core of our bed systems are the snow-white Matri beds. These „comfort bricks“ are particularly durable, stable and breathable due to carefully selected materials. Simply choose the model that best suits you and let your dream bed come to life.
Our wide range of design elements allows you to furnish your bed according to your personal taste. And if one day your bed needs an external type change: works in no time thanks to removable covers and a modular bed structure.

Anja Lehtonen
founded the company Matri-Kalusteet Oy:n together with Martti Lehtonen. She is active in the Finnish business.
Martti Lehtonen
is the second founder. He is Matri’s driving force and good spirit.
Kalle Lehtonen
manages the production in the bed manufactory. Kalle is Anja and Martti’s son.
Elli Lehnhoff
designs the beds as a product designer. She is Anja and Martti’s daughter.
Andreas Lehnhoff
is a product designer and developer. He is Ellis‘ husband and founded the FENNOBED store network.

Matri-Story
If everyone wants to sleep in your bed
Whoever builds a perfect piece of furniture for himself will build it a thousand times over for others. This was discovered by factory worker Martti Lehtonen and his wife Anja in 1986 in Perniö, Finland. They had previously designed and built some furniture for their own homes. Soon afterwards they quit their jobs and found themselves as entrepreneurs. Their success has literally overrun them. Their children Elli and Kalle grew up in the furniture factory.
The new generation
Elli studied furniture design and met Andreas Lehnhoff during a study visit to Germany. The industrial designer loved the functionalism of Bauhaus style – and soon also Elli. Anja and Martti lived for a while in Spain, where they discovered that the Iberian beds did not meet their requirements: older people needed longer beds.
A carefully designed bed
They decided to solve the problem themselves and asked the two young designers in the family for help. They should design a comfortable, healthy and environmentally friendly bed with a good price-performance ratio. The planning phase took two years. But the result was so convincing that soon thousands of Finns, Germans and Spaniards wanted such a bed. Ellis‘ brother Kalle built up a MATRI bed manufactory in Estonia. One family, all from one source.
