Awarded: Fennobed’s environmental management system is now TÜV certified
The Finnish box spring bed manufacturer has been tested for environmental compatibility by the Technischer Überwachungsverein Nord and has been ISO 14001 certified since December 1.
The globally recognized seal confirms corporate values such as resource-saving production and a generally careful approach to the environment.
Since December 1, 2016, the production of Fennobed GmbH, headquartered in Frankfurt, has been ISO 14001 certified. As of now, a TÜV test mark certifies that the Finnish family business has an effective environmental management system that is consistently implemented across all company divisions. „From the very beginning, environmental sustainability has been one of our core values,“ emphasizes Andreas Lehnhoff, founder and managing director of Fennobed. For example, the box spring bed manufacturer uses only FSC-certified natural wood in production. In order to protect the environment, customers and employees, the company does not use any chemicals at all in bed production. In addition, all packaging materials can be recycled without any problems. Likewise, the new manufacturing plant in Estonia uses energy-efficient production methods as well as heating exclusively with renewable energy.
From the woods to the textiles – every step is crucial
TÜV NORD has certified the entire production process: from the in-house manufactory to the processed woods and the textiles used. „It’s crucial that we don’t just think regionally,“ sums up Elli Lehnhoff, founder and product designer at Fennobed, adding, „We select each of our suppliers very consciously and according to sustainability criteria, such as with our certified natural woods.“ For employees, too, a resource-conserving approach to nature plays an important role: it starts with little things like turning off the lights after work or turning down the heat during shock ventilation. „The Fennobed family consciously cultivates the sensitive use of resources. Without this conviction, we would not have received the TÜV test mark,“ Andreas Lehnhoff summarizes. The test by TÜV NORD did not result in any objections. The test mark is valid for three years with immediate effect. The prerequisite for this is an annual inspection by the Technical Inspection Agency.
Material and quality
High standards in the selection of materials are a matter of course for the German-Finnish family company. For example, only slow-growing softwoods are used to manufacture the box spring beds. But not only with the material, but also with the quality of work processes is looked at very carefully: Since 2014, Fennobed has been ISO 9001 certified – a seal of quality that attests to holistic quality management.
